Since Graduating in 1977 from Nottingham University, Andy spent 8 years in various organisations (Manufacturing, Finance and the NHS) working in Human Resources, covering such areas as Manpower Planning, Recruitment, Salary Administration, Industrial Relations and Management Development. During this time Andy also engaged in a joint research project with the Institute of Manpower Studies, to assess how personal computers would impact the HR Department.
After this period, Andy moved into IT, specialising in Human Resources Systems, covering implementation, training and Pre-sales activities.
In 2000, Andy whilst at IBM wrote two papers entitled;
Andy has also been looking at networking within organisations to disseminate information within the workforce via internal 'chats' and 'blogs' and the use of social media within HCM systems, to provide employees with a seamless way of communicating within their organisation.

Barry CooperBarry is currently an independent IT consultant, with almost 30 years’ industry experience in delivering successful engagements to customers across a broad range of industry sectors. Barry specialises primarily in Oracle Applications, with proven expertise in implementing, migrating and extending Human Resources, Payroll and Learning Management modules. With a strong background in enterprise applications development, Barry has experience of working within both Agile and traditional “waterfall” methodologies and has often been called upon to adapt elements of both in a hybrid delivery model to suit specifics of customer engagements. With a number of recent engagements having an element of remote work, Barry has good experience of projects involving a mix of on/near/off-shore resources, and has successfully managed remote resources in the delivery of complex upgrades.
As a believer in sharing knowledge, Barry has, over the years, presented at a number of Oracle Conferences and special-interest group meetings, on a wide variety of topics (both functional and technical), with the highlight being a significant presentation at Oracle Open World on the Business Intelligence implementation for the NHS project, which at the time was the largest implementation of Oracle HR Analytics in the world. Away from work, Barry is a keen cyclist and runner, and (during the summer months) can often be found taking part in flat-green bowls. |

Max Woodland-HillMax was initially inspired by computing elements introduced during his undergraduate course in forensic science and subsequently decided to pursue a career within the IT industry. He was then further encouraged by insightful experiences gained whilst working with various Oracle applications involving Natural Language Processing, Data Quality and Business Intelligence applications. Max now has over 5 years’ experience in industry and has successfully developed several extensive cloud and on-premise business process solutions for various high-profile clients.
With his inherent background rooted in science and technology, Max is passionate about solving fundamental real-life problems using innovative, best-practice methods. While not developing applications Max can usually be found running around a paintball field or planning the next snowboarding venture. |
